We may be having quite a winter here in Toronto, but it’s that time of the year to start thinking about boats. Boats you ask? Yes, the Toronto International Boat Show is on now. You may be in the market for one or just dreaming. But, this is a fun show to check out in Toronto. It’s on every year around this time.
I stopped in today to take a look around. I’ve always known that I was a boat lover, but I don’t have the money for one or a place to put it (unless it’s the blow up kind). That didn’t stop me from taking off my shoes and exploring the inside of some of these gorgeous boats. Or are they yachts? I don’t really know where the line is between boat or yacht. I’ll take either. But, let me back up for a second. Yes, you have to take off your shoes to come aboard some of these gorgeous vessels. So when you go, wear good socks.
There’s every make, model, style and size to fit your needs or dreams. From kayaks to canoes, from SUPs to sails, and from big to small. Something for everyone. Plus all the ‘stuff’ that you need to be a boater. The clothes, the toys, the docks and all else that will complete your boating experience.
This show gives you ideas and dreams for what is and might be possible one day. You hear and see people talking about which boat/yacht they will buy next (maybe this year of next) and you see others taking pictures of what they hope to have one day. Families and friends are checking out all the various boats and smiling as they dream of the possibility or potentially an imminent reality. Plus, boats make you think summer and warmth. And after the past few weeks of winter weather, who doesn’t want that!
Take your hope for summer to another level and enjoy a FREE boat ride in the giant lake they’ve created in the Ricoh Coliseum. You can try out an inflatable boat, canoe, kayak, or paddleboat. Plus watch professional wakeboarders and wakeskaters perform tricks and flips on the lake as you enjoy it all from the stands. There are also canoe & kayak seminars plus stand up paddle (SUP) board with fitness and yoga demonstrations on the lake daily.
Looking for something to do between now and January 19th, 2014, why not head down to the Direct Energy Centre in Toronto and enjoy the view from the bridge of your new boat or yacht. Or from the seat of your new canoe or kayak! More details here: torontoboatshow.com
